Book Drive 2020

Stanmore Public School Book Drive 2020

Our annual Book Drive has got off to a roaring start this week.

On Monday students enjoyed a Mufti Day, dressing as their favourite literary characters and in the Book Week theme of Curious Creatures, Wild Minds.

There were some amazing costume creations displayed by both students and teachers. View the gallery below and see who you recognise.

That same morning students also took part in Read Around the School from 10:20am. Every child was given the opportunity to read their favourite book in the classroom or wherever they happened to be at that time.

Our thanks to school parent Yolande Francis for producing this amazing video.

Students have also been taking part in our Disguise the Gingerbread Man competition. Helping the gingerbread man escape from the fox by disguising him as a different book character.

See some of the costumes on display and the gingerbread men creations in our gallery below.

Book Donations

Our Book Drive is an opportunity each year for our library to replenish its stock with new books and replace some of the warn out books that have been well used by students.

In previous years the Drive has raised enough money to purchase over 500, much needed, new books.

This year is more challenging because we’re unable to hold our Grandparents’ Morning Tea and are reliant on online donations.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. So far we’ve raised enough in donations to purchase 301 books.

If you haven’t done so yet, please consider donating via the online order form by following the link below. Every book counts and is very much appreciated by the school and especially the students.
