This year we have chosen to hold our annual Book Drive in Term 4. The event will be held the week of October 26.
The Monday, October 26, will be a mufti day. Student’s will be invited to dress up as their favourite literary character. This year’s Book Week theme is “Curious creatures, wild minds” which hopefully provides plenty of inspiration for costume ideas.
Students will also take part in reading around the school. Everyone at school will be reading at the same time – perhaps in the playground, garden, library, on the steps and Year 6 students will read with their buddies.
There will also be competitions for students to take part in. More details about these next week.
Unfortunately, due to current restrictions, the school won’t be able to run our usual Grandparents’ Morning Tea. Instead, we will be asking parents and grandparents to donate books to the Book Drive online.
Students will be invited to the library at lunchtime during the week to choose the book or books they wish to donate. As usual, your child’s name will go in the front of the books to acknowledge their contribution and they’ll also get to borrow the books first!
We will be publishing the link to the online donation form next week. So watch this space.
Once again, this year our Book Drive is sponsored by Jonathan Hammond of Cobden & Hayson who has generously offered to donate $3,000 towards library resources for Stanmore Public School students. This is the third year Jonathan has volunteered to sponsor this event bringing his total contribution towards our library and the school’s reading program to an amazing $10,500.
We love our library and the joy that reading brings our students and we hope you do too. All donations help the school to provide quality literature for our kids to enjoy throughout the year.
