It is hard to believe that the 2019 school year is half over. It seems such a short time ago that we were welcoming all those new kindergarten children to school for the first time. Yet what a lot has been achieved in just 100 days. It is always a joy for teachers (and school principals) to behold the growth in student learning across the school – watching the green shoots grow and blossom is what it is all about for educators.
Parents also will undoubtedly be delighted to see evidence of their children’s developing skills in all areas of academic learning, in their oral language capabilities and in their growing maturity and responsibility.
Report time is a time to reflect on just what has been achieved and consider those things that will be worked on next, but the focus needs to be on celebrating the achievements. It is reinforcing for children to see just how far they have come because this strengthens their belief in themselves as learners and gives them the motivation to continue to be active learners.
I hope our families have the opportunity to enjoy some quality family time during the school vacation and that we see all our students refreshed and ready for another term of learning on Tuesday 23rd July.
A happy and safe holiday to all.
