Stanmore Public School Message from the Principal

Dear parents and carers,

We have much to celebrate at Stanmore Public School after our first full week of teaching and learning for 2021. Our new Kindergarten students have commenced, and they are doing an admirable job adjusting to the primary school environment. Kindergarten have been in flexible learning groups for the first week, allowing us to plan ideal combinations of students, and on Monday, Kindergarten classes will be formed.

Across the school, students are busy and engaged in their classrooms, forming relationships with their new teachers and classmates and embarking on the differentiated teaching and learning programs which their teachers have planned. In the playground, children are demonstrating the school values of respect, resilience and responsibility (almost all the time), and enjoying the beautiful weather as they play and socialise.

Thank you to our parent community for your positive support of your children’s new class placements. We understand that some children may find the transition to a new teacher or a new group of peers challenging for a range of reasons, and we really appreciate the support the school is receiving from parents in this area. As children settle, develop new connections with peers and bond with their teacher, we almost always see that things get easier over time.

Thank you to Ms Claire Mitchell for organising the Swimming Carnival last Tuesday, and thanks to all the staff members who assisted and supervised. It is an enormous logistical task, made even larger with the additional of COVID Safety Plans, and it went off without a hitch and ahead of schedule. Congratulations to all Zone qualifiers and race winners, and well done to all students who competed on the day.

Drop off and pick up procedures

Thank you to our parent community for continuing to drop children off at the gate whenever possible, and minimising your time on the school site.

If you do need to come on to the school site for any reason, and for any length of time, please ensure that you scan the QR code and check in to the NSW Service app. QR codes are located on all gates and at the front office.

When parking near the school to drop off or pick up children, please remember that Holt St (east side) is a Kiss and Go zone before and after school. Drivers should not leave their vehicle for any length of time when dropping students off in the morning.

For afternoon pickups, a Kiss and Collect form is required. This can be completed at the office or through the school website.

If your child is not yet at the gate when you arrive, please continue around the block so that the traffic can continue to flow.
