Dear parents and carers,
Solar Panels Grant Success
It is with great pleasure that we are able to announce that Stanmore Public School P&C was successful in securing funding under the 2020 NSW Government’s Community Building Partnerships Grants to install solar panels at our school.
We are delighted to have been awarded $14,000 to install solar panels at the school. The CBP funding will be matched by Solar My School funds, supported by the Inner West Council and the Department of Education. We now have grant funding to fully cover the cost of the supply and installation of a 25+KW rooftop solar PV array and metering system!
The solar panel project supports our school’s long-standing, strong commitment to sustainability. The project will significantly reduce the school’s emission’s footprint and decrease the school’s electricity costs by 14%.
You can find a list of all the other worthy recipients of the Community Building Partnerships grants here:
Huge thanks to our wonderful team of P&C volunteers who are driving this project: Kate Berry, Edward Hanna, Stephen Jackson and Jackie Greenwood.
Amazing Me personal development workshops
A reminder that Amazing Me are running two online workshops for Year 3-6 children and their parents next Tuesday evening, developing children’s knowledge of bodies, babies and puberty. Having attended Rowena’s presentations in the past, I can highly recommend her supportive, humorous and frank approach to these topics which are both very important, and can also be uncomfortable for parents and children to discuss.
Student Executive elections
Next Wednesday, a very strong field of Year 5 students who have nominated themselves for Student Executive positions will write and deliver campaign speeches, outlining why they would make excellent student leaders. Year 5 students will watch the speeches as they are filmed and will cast their votes on the day. Students in Years 2, 3 and 4 and staff members will watch the videos and vote in the following week.
The successful candidates will be announced at Year 3-6 Presentation Day on Monday 14th December. All the best to all our candidates!
Recording of Parent Forum – Multi-age Classes
Thank you to all the parents who dialled in to our Parent Forums discussing the reasons behind forming multi-age classes in Years 3-6 next year. If you weren’t able to tune in but would like to view the presentation and discussion from today, you can access a recording here:
Until next week,
