Stanmore Public School Message from the Principal

Dear parents and carers,

Showcase Next Week!

Showcase Week is upon us. Please be aware that your child will need to wear their performance clothes to school on one day next week. The Showcase schedule is:

  • Wednesday: K-2 Showcase performance and filming (9:30 – 11:00). All Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students to come to school in costume for the whole day. Teachers have sent out information about costume requirements – if you did not receive this information please contact your child’s teacher ASAP.
  • Thursday: K-2 Showcase performance and filming (9:30 – 11:00). All Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 students to come to school in costume for the whole day. Teachers have sent out information about costume requirements – if you did not receive this information please contact your child’s teacher ASAP.

Filming and Photography

IMPORTANT: All Showcase performances will be filmed and photographed, and recordings/images will be made available to our school community through a password-protected link on the school website.

If you DO NOT consent to your child to be filmed or photographed for Showcase, please complete this opt out form by Tuesday 3 November:

A separate form is required for each child without consent.

Children without consent to be filmed or photographed will not perform in their class’ item. Children who do not have an opt out form completed will participate in performances, and will be filmed and photographed. Under the circumstances, as I’m sure everyone will understand, it will not be possible to opt out after the performances.

Thank you once again to Matt and Michelle Dargaville for filming our Showcase performances this year. We are seeking parent volunteer/s with high level skills and equipment in photography to assist us with photographing performances between 9:20am – 11:00am on Wednesday and Thursday next week. If you are able to assist, please email the office.

Nude Food reminder

Thank you to all the families who supported our ‘Nude Food Thursdays’ initiative this week. We are making every Thursday Nude Food Day, please try and minimise food packaging on Thursdays if possible.

Book Week Wrap Up

A huge thank you to Mrs Metzner for organising the wonderful Book Week Celebrations! Despite the wet weather, the whole school had lots of fun dressing up and celebrating our love of reading.

Thank you SO much to all the families who donated books to our Book Drive – your generosity is much appreciated.

Happy World Teachers Day

To all our amazing teachers – thank you so much for all the amazing work you do for our students! You are all stars. Thanks to all the parents who sent in cards and gifts today, and to our lovely P&C reps who brought in a beautiful selection of chocolates, teas and beauty/skin products to show thanks to our teachers.

Student Leadership Policy and Nomination Forms

Yesterday, we spoke with Year 5 students about the process for elections to student leadership positions – Student Executive and House Captains/Vice Captains. Students were given a copy of the school’s policy outlining the procedures for nomination and elections, and the expectations for these roles.

Until next week,

Hugh Miller
