Stanmore Public School Message from the Principal

Dear parents and carers,

P&C Trivia Night – next Friday

In 2020, the importance of building connections with our local community has never been more important. While we are not able to hold the usual school events that bring our school community together, our P&C are still working hard to come up with ways to bring people together virtually.
And so, back by popular demand: the Trivia Night In Part 2! Parents and carers are encouraged to get a group together and register a team – scroll down to the P&C section for details.

RIP Chickens

You may have heard the sad news about the passing of most of our flock of chickens on Monday morning, after a fox managed to get into the chook house. One plucky chook, Elsa, managed to survive, and is safe and well inside the chook house.

We think that the automatic door to the chook house may have malfunctioned, and will rectify that before purchasing a new flock. Our General Assistants, Lindsay and Fiona, have already reinforced the fencing around the chook run with reinforced steel dug into the ground.

Lego Club

Every Tuesday lunchtime, some colleagues and I have the pleasure of supervising selected students from Years 3, 4 and 5 in Lego Club, a fun and interactive program aimed at supporting the development of social skills, communication and collaboration – through building awesome Lego sets!

Students take turns in three roles during every session: Engineer, Supplier and Builder. The level of positive communication, encouragement and pride in their achievements is wonderful to see each week.

Until next week,

Hugh Miller
