
Monday, February 15, was Library Lovers’ Day at Stanmore Public School and each class had “a blind date” with a new book from the library.
The books were put in gift bags and delivered to the classrooms on Monday morning and the library monitors made a big sign for our window. Our librarian, Ms Metzner, heard enthusiastic comments all week from children about the surprise books that were read aloud by their teachers.
Library Lovers’ Day is another celebration of books and reading at Stanmore Public School.
Lunchtime in the Library
The library is open each lunch time from 1:15pm with different groups each day:
- Monday: Library Monitors
- Tuesday: Years 5 & 6
- Wednesday: Years 3 & 4
- Thursday: Years 1 & 2
- Friday: Kindergarten and their buddies
Any student wanting to read quietly in the library is welcome any lunchtime.

- Plastic animals
- Drawing
- Puppets
Our library monitors are also organising a craft activity for kindergarten and Stage 1.
Students have the responsibility of packing up the toys and returning them to the cupboard before leaving the library.
Library Monitors
Library monitors are students from years 4, 5 & 6 who volunteer to help in the library on a regular basis. New volunteers are welcome.
