Parents are always welcome at school for events and to assist in our programs and, indeed, we encourage them to come. It adds to the sense of community around the school and children love to have their parents and carers there.
When attending school events, however, it is important for parents to remember there are certain expectations. They are expected to be positive role models for our students and converse respectfully with each other, with school staff and with students.
Even more importantly, they must remember they have no authority to intervene in the behaviour of any children other than their own. Managing behaviour at school and at school events is the responsibility of the teaching staff. If parents and carers are at school and see something that concerns them, they should refer it immediately to the teacher on duty or to the school office for follow up.
